Saw a relatively inexpensive lockable gas cap on TW and purchased since we don't have a lockable door and accept seen people get their tanks tampered with as a result. Of class it SAID it wouldn't cause CELs, but it did.

Well the solar day afterward I installed it, I got into my truck to a host of codes. CEL, etc.,

    CODES: P0445 and P0441

I put the stock cap back on, and was able to clear the pending/confirmed codes through an OBD app (Fusion iOS) and they have not returned since only of course it's not that easy to clear the permanent ones. Aside from techstream, is there another examination pattern I should be enlightened of to clear them and so information technology doesn't still have record of a LARGE LEAK in my emissions? Won't be an consequence for a few months when I have to do my almanac smog check but will certainly want it cleared earlier then.

I believe that the memory is purged of those codes after 50 drive cycles.

WTF?^. Practise you accept something to add together, or are yous just hither to shit post?
  6. Use torque. You'll have to buy a OBDII bluetooth scanner. Only y'all can literally wipe it with a press of a button.

I did a bit of research of codes.

The FSM volition listing the Universal Trip Drive Blueprint. This list the process on how to bulldoze the vehicle after resetting the lawmaking. If the pattern is performed and the lawmaking does not come back, the lawmaking is archived.

Hither is an instance of a UTDP:

Typically, this Universal Trip Drive Pattern starts off by immigration all the DTCs so that just the Permanent DTC remains (e'er refer to service information for applicable data and procedures).

And so turn the ignition ON, start the vehicle and let information technology idle for at to the lowest degree 30 seconds. So, without cycling the key, drive the vehicle for at least five minutes at more than 40 km/h. Then (over again without cycling the key) let the vehicle idle for at least xxx seconds earlier shutting it OFF. The whole drive cycle must have at least 10 minutes. Later on performing a Universal Trip Bulldoze Blueprint, the computer clears the code, since it's "seen" that the problem is fixed and not reoccurring.

I don't know the exact procedure for a 2017, only your question fabricated me desire to inquiry more than in depth. I was on my telephone before and in a hurry.

    Cheers for the question.

Information technology is "permanent" DTCs that crusade the malfunction indicator to light, "pending" codes that practise not. Immigration the DTCs with a browse tool clears both--notwithstanding doing so volition likewise set up DTC P1000 (OBDII Monitor Tests Not Consummate). Every bit was alluded to higher up P1000 is reset when a required number of "driving cycles"have been completed.

Each manufacturer and model has different monitor readiness test cycles, however this is a generic sort of sequence that works with many vehicles:

    • Fuel tank at ane/ii.
    • Engine common cold start idle for 10 minutes.
    • Drive at highway speed 55-60 mph with steady throttle for 16 minutes.
    • Render to idle for 3 minutes with engine running in park.
    • Bulldoze again at medium speed 40 mph for eight minutes.
    • Render to idle for 3 minutes.
    • Repeat next day.
Check P1000 being set up (some scan tools just phone call this OBD Readiness or the like), if P1000 is non set you lot are all set up for the emission inspection--through depending on how picky your land is it could still fail a existent sniff test...

No vehicle inspections here in Florida--at all...

Thanks for the tips - I accept an OBD scanner and app and that allowed me to articulate the awaiting ad confirmed (which killed the CEL low-cal) and so only thing remaining was the permanent. I've had over iii/4 tank the whole time so perchance demand to get information technology a bit lower and perform the trip. Been in the city since it happened and so my steady drives are generally no more than v-ten minutes before stops, exits, turns. Something to try though and I appreciate the valuable tips!
